Having checked the latest ZF data sheets, they recommend (for the ZFS 51-7 box as fitted to many TE21s) to use their own ZF Ecofluid M, which is a GL4 75w/80 fully synthetic oil.
There technical sheet suggests:
"ZF EcoFluid M
or
Transmission oil according to lubricant class 24A
or
Engine oil according to lubricant class 24B"
The ZF Ecofluid M is very expensive, however it suggests that in a commercial vehicle it should last 335K miles as a.minimum.
The "Class 24A" is 20w30 sae engine oil
The "class 24B is a sae 80 oil.
The modern equivalents of the oils on Page 15 of the owners manual list 3 x SAE 30 and 3 x 20w50 oils
Therefore, I confuse to being somewhat confused as to which oil to select. Any words of wisdom?
