TE21 window regulators.
With the passage of time the teeth on the regulator quadrant wear; or in my case get chewed up. Both left hand and right hand regulators are made up of identical parts - they are just assembled differently to make a left or right-handed winder. So, grind off the weld holding the quadrant in place on the spindle, and also the river that holds one of the lifting arms to the quadrant. Know them out. Then turn the quadrant up-side-down and weld it back onto the spindle and re-river the arm. You now have a completely unused set of teeth that should last 50 years.
Of course, the hardest part is dismantling the door and then re-assembling it!!
