SW Picnic at Great Chalfield Manor

DGSW1

On Sunday morning 7th September the weather in the South West was absolutely atrocious, heavy rain & hail accompanied by rather serious thunder & lightning, surely not the kind of day for a picnic.

Well now, you know what they say ‘the lord shines on the righteous ‘and by lunchtime it was a lovely warm and dry afternoon. An excellent display of Alvis cars including 4 magnificent Speed 20s plus a splendid RR Silver Ghost, an Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire and a beautiful Daimler V8 250 were gracing the forecourt to the magnificent Great Chalfield Manor.

Guided tours of the Manor and walks around the beautiful gardens were the order of the day, a number of members also visited the tiny All Saints church, many choosing to make Gift Aid contributions towards its upkeep. It was then time to find your spot in the garden and to set up and enjoy our picnics - A lovely afternoon was clearly enjoyed by all!!
