NORTHERN: Vintage by the sea - The Midland Hotel, Marine Rd, Morecambe, Lancashire LA4 4BU. A celebration of all things Vintage: cars, live music, fashion etc. As voted the best vintage event in the world by the Guardian Newspaper. The fantastic setting of Morcambe’s seafront provides the backdrop that transforms into a multi-venue playground where, visitors can learn the dances, take in specially curated live performances, ogle over vintage vehicles or take advantage of the decade’s specific hair and beauty makeovers. MIDLAND/ SOUTH EAST: KOP HILL CLIMB Nr Princes Risborough Bucks HP27 7AE – There will be an Alvis Owner Club stand again this year at Kop Hill Climb. We need 10 or more Alvis cars each day on the stand to put on a good show to the large number of visitors who attend. Please come on either the Saturday or Sunday or both days. Sunday 10th September - The AOC have been invited by Tenterden Lions Club to help celebrate their 60 years of supporting charities, with a Classic Car Show. The event will be held on 11 acres, a couple of minutes from Tenterden town centre. There will be an autojumble, trade stands, stalls, food and refreshments. £10 per car and one passenger, additional passengers £5. Friday 15th September – The Prescott Gold Cup Race Meeting - a rather different kind of race meeting, with lots of competition, excitement and fun; with supper included. No wheels involved, just 4 legs!

Sunday 24th September - Reepham Classic Car Event – meet at Reepham Market Square between 11.00am - 4.00pm, around 90 classic cars are expected. Cars are advised to arrive an hour beforehand to be shown to their allocated spaces as the Square is closed to traffic. This year’s theme is German marques. Although it is a free public event due to its popularity entry for the classic cars is by ticket only. This year I have been asked to assemble up to 6 Alvis for the show so contact me if you wish to attend. Thursday 28th September - Maitland Cook – 70 years of Motorsport - Supper and interview by our Chairman with Maitland covering his many years involvement with motor sport.
Friday 29th September - Fish and Chips supper and a GWSR steam train ride. Come along for a nostalgic locomotive trip, departing from Toddington Station for Cheltenham Racecourse chugging past Prescott on the way.

SOUTH EAST: South East Alvis Day This year the South East Section Committee invites all Members to join us at the magnificent location of Hever Castle in Kent. Spanning more than 700 years, the Castle's history is rich and varied. Hever famously became the childhood home of Anne Boleyn followed by Anne of Cleves. From 1557 it was inhabited by various families but gradually fell into decline before William Waldorf Astor acquired Hever at the beginning of the last century investing time, money and imagination restoring the Castle and creating stunning gardens and a vast lake.

SOUTH WEST: Castle Combe Autumn Classic. - Season-closer of exciting vintage and classic track action, paddock access, relaxed atmosphere, no queues to get in. About 10 minutes drive from M4 J17 or 18. Bring a chair as there are no grandstands or seating, but plenty of leaning posts! Bar, restaurant, coffee stalls. SOUTH WEST: REMEMBERING MAURICE HARVEY. Meet in the square at St. Keverne, ten miles South of Helston, Cornwall, from 10.30am outside The White Hart Inn, TR12 6ND (coffee available). Pay our respects to Alvis’s most famous and successful racing driver, close to the 94th anniversary of his greatest race win, at his graveside, then raise a glass to his memory, with friends, in The White Hart, about 12.30pm, for the usual three hour lunch.

NORTHERN: North Yorkshire Moors Railway - Railway in Wartime - Be part of this hugely popular re-enactment weekend. For further information, visit nymr.co.uk. Our group will be based at Grosmont Station, where there will be music and dance. The Home Guard are stationed at Goathland station and Levisham station is transformed into Le Visham, a German-occupied French village. Cars up to and including TA14s welcome (sorry post-war). Period style dress required.

MIDLAND: The Annual Skittles Match against the Bentley Drivers Club is at a new location chosen to improve accessibility for some of us! They clearly want us to get the trophy back! It will be at at Ansty Social Club, Grove Road Ansty, near Coventry CV7 9JD which is on the old A46 Leicester road about 2 miles from the M6 junction at Walsgrave.

ALL SECTIONS: Mayfair Meeting, at the Coach and Horses, Bruton Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 6PT. The Club’s now traditional International gathering before Christmas for an all section Noggin and Natter. Christmas lights will be on and the new shows will be running so make a weekend of it.

SOUTH EAST: Christmas Dinner at The Gomshall Mill in Gomshall, Surrey, GU5 9LB. By popular demand we are returning for a fine Christmas Dinner at the Mill in Gomshall. An historic location with a working water mill and easy parking, this venue offers a superb atmosphere but more importantly very good food and most certainly good company.
