From the AOC Scottish Section Committee -  Postponement of the Scottich Section International Event

Scotland International-2021

The Scottish Section has been working hard towards the International event in June and were hoping to open booking very soon, but sadly we have now had to make the decision to postpone the event. This has been approved by the AOC Board.

Although it's probable that most AOC members will have been vaccinated, there will still be restrictions in place covering large gatherings. And of course it will be difficult for any overseas members to attend.  It is unlikely we would be able to have a Gala Dinner and a Ceilidh at the hotel, and at Glamis Castle the castle visits will be very restricted and the pipe band would not be able to perform. In short we cannot offer the top class sociable Scottish event we have planned.

It will not be possible to hold the event later this year because hotels and event venues are already booked up - and we can't predict when exactly all restrictions will be lifted.   The International meeting next year is planned for East Anglia so we are hoping to hold the Scottish event in 2023.

On a brighter note for some, the Follow-on Tour of Scotland will still take place. There may be distancing rules in the hotels and some attractions but that won't stop us enjoying a good drive around Scotland. You will of course have to make the journey up to Dunkeld for the start. We already have 10 bookings for the tour, but understandably some may now withdraw.   Details of the tour can be found in the Members Only News Section.

We are very sorry not to be entertaining you this year but look forward to welcoming you in 2023.

Best Regards,
