Alvis cars feature at the “Drive it Day” event at Chiddingstone Castle

Chiddingstone Castle 1

A great collection of Alvis cars was present at the Drive-it-Day event at Chiddingstone Castle, Kent. The event was limited to 60 cars, and was fully booked. Classic cars (defined as pre-1980) were invited to park on the Castle lawns, suitably socially distanced, and take-away cream teas were available from the Castle kitchen.
The event featured a fabulous and eclectic collection of cars, from pre-war Lagondas and Bentleys to post war Minis, Porsches, Aston Martins and a gloriously decadent De Tomaso.

11 Alvis cars attended, making it the most featured marque after Triumph, which was a considerable success considering the relative rarity of Alvis cars. The Alvis cars included a Speed 20 SC drophead coupe, a Speed 25 saloon, a 12/70 saloon, a TA14, TC21 “Grey Lady”, and saloon and drophead versions of both Series of TD21s.
Some of the Alvis owners convened for a chilly outdoor cooked breakfast at the Cricketer’s Inn, Meopham Green, followed by 35-mile tour through the Kentish country lanes, with beautiful views from the North Downs.
The event provided a very relaxed and safe atmosphere for all who attended, and plenty of glorious cars to fawn over and owners to chat with, from a suitable distance.

The AOC has an excellent relationship with Chiddingstone, having held the South East Section day in 2012 and again this year. The Drive-it-Day event was a great rehearsal for the SE Day in August.
