Ref. 01246 Alvis Speed 20 sports tourer: the car is the bringing together of two Speed 20s in the 1960s, one being a 1932 SA Cross & Ellis sports tourer, chassis number 9848, registration number HY 6195 and the other car being a 1933 SB Charlesworth saloon, chassis number 15845, registration number AXB 850. the car has the running gear and chassis of the 1933 SB merged with the body of the 1932 SA with certain minor adaptions and was last on the road many years ago with the registration of the1932 SA, i.e. HY 6195. I have verification from our club officials of the above information. The car needs the completion of its restoration as can be seen by the photograph attached. The chassis, brakes are sorted and the wheels have been powder coated red. The headlights, horns, pass lamps and bonnet catches have all been rechromed and the car is 95% complete.I can scan and email a copy of a picture of how the car should look after restoration to anyone who makes the requests most of the parts not seen in the photograph are in secure storage at home including the engine. I am looking for sensible, realistic offers. (Prudhoe, Northumberland).

Ref. 01245 1962 Alvis TD 21, chassis number 26816, registration number 155 ELT and is gold with a black roof. The car needs complete recommissioning as was last on the road in 1983, however, being dry stored since then the body is very solid and only requires the minimum of work, as can be seen from the attached photograph. The interior leather is tired but restorable and the only part missing is the carbs air filter cassette. I am looking for offers over £4,500.00 for the car which can be viewed if so required. (Prudhoe, Northumberland).

Ref. 01240 SC 12/50 engine no 3759 chassis no 8726. Unique car originally built in 1925 as wide bodied sub-framed 2/3 seater. Rebodied in 1929 with a four seater fabric body off a Silver Eagle, almost certainly the one taken from the Green Car when it was re-equipped by the Works with a racing body (see photo). The result combined the additional room of the Silver Eagle body with the simlpicity and reliability of the 12/50. The use of fabric kept the weight down and the addition of front wheel brakes was anothe significant improvement at the time. The car was laid up from 1942 to 1992 when it was bought by Lord Tombs who had it fully restored to its 1929 cinfiguration by Wilkinson of Derby (all bills avaiable). Their work was to a famously high standard and a notable feature is the quiet running of the engine. The current owner has added side screens and tonneau and converted to a close ratio gear box. Extras include a luggage rack and capacious matching period trunk. Around £39,500.

November 2011 Another small but distinguished selection, albeit nothing pre-war. The Webmaster reminds prospective purchasers that when a vendor states that a car has been restored by a particular workshop, they should inspect the bills to ascertain the extent of the work done. Failing that, they should contact the restorer to check.
Ref. 01239 1952 TA 21 saloon with a 3L engine and sunroof. Chassis number 24859, engine number 24992 and reg no. SXG956. There is some speculation that this car was used as a racing saloon in the early fifties but as the chassis number is not very clear this can’t be varified. The car was bought by my family in October 1989. It was resprayed its current red and white colours during the late 1990’s whilst also being reupholstered. It was then parked up until 2004 when it was put back on the road. In 2007 it underwent an overhaul of the suspension and braking systems and then in 2009 to solve a reliability issue with dirt in the fuel line the fuel tank was replaced. It has had more work done recently and has a valid MOT until July 2012. It is likely not to have done more than 100 miles in the last four years. Plenty more photos available.
